As Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading supplier of disability equipment, information and modification services; the Enable New Zealand team proudly includes clinical services advisory experts across the country.
This November, three of our clinical services advisors will be sharing their insights and advice as presenters at the ATSNZ Disability Expo.
Experienced advisors Sarah Boyt and Pauline Lazarus will be covering the complex topic of restraint minimisation.
“Restraint minimisation is an integral part of health professionals’ practice when considering solutions.” says Enable New Zealand’s National Manager Clinical Advisory Services Rachel Tatham.
“This presentation will help establish a consistent approach to providing safe and quality care in relation to tailored solutions around restraint minimisation.”
“Our clinical services advisors will be providing up to date guidance on current best practice under Section 6 in the 2021 Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability services standard. Being a complex and sometimes challenging area, we want to ensure New Zealand assessors and other health professionals are fully equipped and supported to navigate restraint minimisation.”
“In addition to increasing awareness of this standard, our team will guide professionals with the definitions of restraints and share other available resources. They will discuss clinical application and talk to current practice guidelines and behavioural support services.”
“To support a practical understanding of this topic, they will present case studies where these standards and practices have been applied.”
Enable advisor Nafi Lefono will join ACC presenters to deliver an overview of ACC’s Managed Rehabilitation Equipment Services and the service components which provide assistive technology to our customers. This includes Enable New Zealand’s role through the ACC Clinical Advisory Service.
