Enable New Zealand provides rehabilitation equipment to people referred to us by ACC. We’re here to help if you need your equipment fixed, serviced or collected. Did you know:
ACC owns the equipment, so you can use it for as long as agreed.
ACC may pay for equipment to be repaired and maintained or replaced where needed.
Who to contact about your equipment
Collections
For your equipment to be collected phone 0800 362 253 or use our online form at enable.co.nz/contact-us. You can also visit our equipment collection page equipment collection.
Repairs, maintenance and adjustments
Our equipment service agents work Monday to Friday (except public holidays), between 8am and 5pm. Find an equipment service agent in your area.
They can come to your home to repair or collect the equipment. Service agents aim to review equipment within 1 working day. If your equipment needs an annual service or electrical test, an equipment service agent will contact you, or you can contact us.
If your equipment breaks down out-of-hours (after 5pm and before 8am), and you need urgent help, phone 0800 362 253. Our after-hours answer service will put you through to a service agent.
Urgent repairs after hours
Urgent repairs maybe carried out, but only as a last resort as deemed essential by the subcontractor like:
there is an imminent or urgent safety concern
immobility (in or outside of home) or unable to move for any reason
backup equipment is not available; or
the problem cannot be overcome through existing carer supports in place.
Replacements
If your equipment needs replacing because it is lost, stolen, or isn’t suitable for you anymore, contact ACC. Phone 0800 101 996 or email claims@acc.co.nz.
Setting up and using the equipment
Make sure you know how to safely use the equipment. Some equipment comes with an instruction manual or an ACC equipment assessor may be able to show you how to set up the equipment and use it safely.
Some equipment is bulky, heavy, complex, or needs adjusting to suit you. Our couriers are trained to set up some beds when they deliver them.
If you need help to set up the equipment after it’s been delivered, you can contact Enable New Zealand. We’ll direct you to the right person.
Keeping equipment in good working order
You or your carer will need to do some simple checks and cleaning. Here are a few quick tips:
Use a damp cloth and mild detergent or disinfectant to clean equipment
wipe or machine-wash seat covers, and mattress covers
clean any build-up of hair or dirt around wheels
keep tyres correctly inflated so the equipment moves easily, and the brakes work properly
keep batteries charged – some take up to 12 hours to fully recharge.
If you notice any of the following things, contact an Enable New Zealand equipment service agent:
Loose or worn parts
torn or frayed material
odd noises from moving parts
damaged electrical cables or wires.
